Naeba

Naeba is one of Niigata's biggest and most established resorts -- a genuinely large vertical for Japan (889m) and a serious lift network (23 lifts), linked by the famous Dragondola gondola to neighboring Kagura/Mitsumata/Tashiro for even more terrain on a combined ticket. It's well known domestically as a long-running Japanese ski destination, with reliable Niigata snowfall and a mix of groomed cruising and legitimate steeper terrain.

Naeba is a purpose-built resort base rather than an old town -- accommodation clusters around the mountain (including large hotel-style properties), so day-to-day life is more resort-village than genuine-town living. It's reachable from Tokyo by Shinkansen plus a shuttle, making it one of the more accessible Japanese resorts for staff without a car, though everyday amenities beyond the resort itself are limited.

Seasonaire roles here lean toward hospitality and ski/lift operations at a well-established, domestically-popular resort -- expect a mix of Japanese and international staff, with the international seasonaire scene smaller and less established than at Niseko or Hakuba. Straightforward Shinkansen access to Tokyo is a real plus for time off.
