Cerro Chapelco is one of Argentine Patagonia's better-regarded resorts -- a real 730m vertical, varied terrain across 29 trails, and reliably good Andes snow, without the scale or crowds of Las Leñas. It's a legitimate Southern Hemisphere season option for someone wanting genuine Patagonia scenery and terrain rather than just a snow-chasing stopover.
The resort sits above San Martín de los Andes, a genuinely appealing lakeside town in the Argentine Lake District with real everyday amenities, restaurants and a proper local community -- a notably nicer base town than many South American ski resorts offer, closer in feel to an Alpine mountain town than a purely functional ski-access point.
Seasonaire work here is smaller-scale than Chile's bigger resorts (Portillo, Valle Nevado) -- expect a modest international crowd, with San Martín de los Andes' town-based hospitality and retail jobs supplementing on-mountain roles. Spanish helps significantly more here than at the more internationally-oriented Chilean resorts.
